Alleged Murderer Uses Social Media To Brag About Beating Man

SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – A Sunrise woman has been arrested and is facing murder charges after police say she admitted to beating a man.

Police say Rosemarie Farid, in a sworn statement, admitted to having fantasized about killing 64-year-old Donald Gavagni, confessed to beating him, stealing his wallet and phone—even told police about a video she recorded and posted on Facebook which mentions the incident.

On July 2nd, according to the complaint affidavit, police responded to a call of dead male.

A friend, who hadn't heard from Gavagni in three days, found him dead in his home.

Police found blood throughout the living room and kitchen where there were bloody washcloths in the sink.

Gavagni, police say, had a contusion on the top of his forehead and large laceration on top of scalp.

Authorities found a pink purse and medication belonging to Farid inside the home.

Farid, on July 3rd, was taken to the Florida Medical Center after she was involved in an unrelated incident.

Farid agreed to speak with detectives, according to police. Farid said that on Monday June 30th, her and Gavagni got in an argument. She stated that she pushed the victim in the upper chest and expressed to police that she believed she had the "desire and ability to kill him" and had "previously fantasized about killing Donald."

During the altercation, Farid told police she shoved the victim which caused him to fall and strike his head on the tile and cement entryway near the bathroom.

She also told police that she forcefully stole the victim's wallet, which had $50 in it, and took his phone.

In addition to her confession, Farid told detectives that on June 30th she posted a video on Facebook—on her public profile—which she filmed in front of the victim's home where she talks about her thoughts of harming Gavagni and about hitting his head on the ground.

"Donny was driving me so insane that I was like delirious from the fighting. I couldn't take it anymore," Farid says in the Facebook video. "I was having fantasies about stabbing him in the neck with a very sharp little knife—I knew I had to get out," said Farid. "I am mentally disabled," Farid said, going on to explain how she believes she is capable of killing him. "I know that I can become pretty violent."

Farid, in the four-minute long video, continues, "I left, but before I left, I took all the money out of his wallet and I stole his phone--and I bashed his head on the floor a couple times." Farid goes on to say that she did it because he killed his dog.

According to the complaint affidavit, Farid "appeared proud of the videos," inviting them to her Facebook page for viewing.

Farid is being charged with premeditated murder.
