MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Forbes issue naming the world’s 100 most powerful women is out.
The women who made it onto the list include those who work in technology, politics, business, finance, media, entertainment, philanthropy and NGOs. There were billionaires as well.
German Chancelor Angela Merkel landed the number one spot. Merkel is no stranger to the top spot.This is her fourth consecutive year topping the list. She has also made it to the list nine times.
Sliding into the number two spot is U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen who is a newcome to the list. She is also the co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation who also has someone who made onto the list.
Melinda Gates got the number three spot on the list again.
The President of Brazil Dilma Rousseff fell two spots this year making it to number four while the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde moved up two spots landing her at number 5.
While her husband was the most powerful man in the Unites States during his presidency, former Secretary of State Hilary Rodham Clinton is listed as the sixth most powerful woman.
Oprah Winfrey, worth $3 billion, got the 14th spot.
Coming in as one of the youngest, Beyonce made it to the 17th spot.
Other powerful women who made it onto the list include: First Lady Michelle Obama, Sheryl Sandberg, Shakira, Sofia Vergara and Angelina Jolie.
Factors considered while determining each woman’s rank on the list included money, media, impact and spheres of influence, according to the magazine.
