"Kimye" Wedding Pastor Seen As "Role Model" At His Miami-Based Church

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The man who married "Kimye" still isn't back in South Florida, but that didn't stop his congregation from worshiping Tuesday night.

Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr.'s congregation held its usual Tuesday night service without the now-famous preacher, who is still overseas following the marriage of rapper Kanye West and reality TV star Kim Kardashian.

Wilkerson, Jr. is an associate pastor at Trinity Church in Miami Gardens.

Hundreds of parishioners gathered there Tuesday for a young-adult focused sermon.

Church-goers saw a quick video message from Wilkerson, Jr., but he didn't make any mention of what he's been up to the last few days.

Most people were shocked to learn their favorite pastor performed the celebrity-studded ceremony in Florence, Italy, while other say they had a clue.

"We had an idea," Bennett Johnson said. "I think it's pretty cool that he can be a light to so many high level people and shine the light of Jesus to those people. It's pretty cool."

Johnson described Wilkerson, Jr. as his "biggest role model".

Other parishioners had just as many nice things to say about the 30-year-old preacher.

"He's real good," Rose Antoine said. "He makes you want to come to church. It's so diverse, so many different people. People you wouldn't expect to come. He really changes lives."

It's been reported Kanye West took Kim Kardashian to a service at the church during one of their trips to Miami a couple years ago.

The pastor has reportedly been friends with them ever since.
