Florida's Film Industry May Be In Jeopardy

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — Florida's film and TV industry may not have a certain future after the funding for a tax credit program was not approved and the fund is empty.

That has studios looking at moving production to other states with aggressive incentive programs.

A past-president of Film Florida, said it was disappointing when the Legislature didn't approve additional funding. Graham Winick said he thought the industry had convinced legislators that the incentives are beneficial to the state. The incentive program was supposed to run from 2010 to 2016 but has already used up the $296 million in tax credits it was allocated.

Sen. Andy Gardiner said the proposal will be reconsidered next year. The Orlando Republican is scheduled to be the next Senate president.
