Robber To Victim: "I'm Doing This To Feed My Family."

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) -- A man robbing a Pompano Beach gas station gave the young clerk an explanation for his actions.

According to Broward Sheriff's Deputies, on April 13, a man wearing sunglasses with the brim of his cap pulled low, went up to the clerk at a Race Trac gas station, located at 599 W. Atlantic Blvd.

The man then pointed the gun at the register and told the young clerk, "I don't want any trouble. I'm doing this to feed my family."

The robber left after the clerk handed over the money.

Detectives are still searching for the man who they believe also robbed another Pompano Beach convenience store on April 15th, but that time, he gave no explanation.

In the second incident, which occurred at a 7-Eleven on Sample Road, the robber pulled out a handgun and demanded cash. Once the clerk gave him the cash, he left the store.

Deputies said they are looking for a man who they say appears to be tall and thin and wears baggy pants, long-sleeved shirts and a dark ball cap during each crime.

Anyone with information is urged to call to Crime Stoppers of Broward at 954-493-TIPS.
