New Federal Charge For Teacher Accused Of Having Sex With Student

LIGHTHOUSE POINT (CBS4) – A teacher at Zion Lutheran Christian School who was charged by state and federal authorities after he was found partially naked in the backseat of a car with a 14-year-old student now faces a new federal charge.

Eric Beasley, 24, is accused of performed a sex act on the girl and that he was her 9th grade biology teacher at the school. After he was arrested, police said Beasley confessed to multiple sexual encounters with the girl starting in February.

Beasley reportedly engaged in "inappropriate behavior" with the victim during school hours at the school.

Beasley was charged with nine counts of sexual battery by a custodian with the victim being under eighteen but over twelve.

Earlier this month, Beasley was indicted on a federal charge of using his cell phone to entice a minor into sexual activity. A picture of his genitalia and a sexually explicit video, both of which were sent to the victim's cell phone were found on his cell phone.

On Thursday, April 24th, he was indicted on the charge of using his computer, a laptop, to entice a minor into sexual activity. The charge carries a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison.

Beasley is being held without bond.

The school dealt with a similar sex scandal back in 2005. Baseball coach Andrew Schafer, 23, was fired and arrested for allegedly having sex with a 15 year old student.
