Miami To Bid On 2016 Democratic National Convention
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Magic City is in the running to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention.
Miami was one of 15 cities that received a 'Request for Proposal' from the Democratic National Committee Monday night. The request came after the mayors of Miami, Miami Beach and Miami-Dade expressed interest in hosting the event.
Local leaders have indicated that their plan calls for the convention to be held at the AmericanAirlines Arena.
Other cities being considered include Orlando, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, Las Vegas, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia and Phoenix, according to CNN.
The DNC will choose the host city late this year or early next year.
