Deputies: Father Kills Son Over Stabbing Argument

NORTH LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) --  An argument over a stabbing, ended with a father allegedly stabbing his son Thursday night.

According to Broward Sheriff's Deputies the argument was over an old family issue in which the father had allegedly stabbed his son's mother.

Detectives said Joseph Troutman, 63, and Tyrone Troutman, 40, were arguing in their North Lauderdale home at around 11:00 p.m. when the dispute turned deadly.

The argument between the father and son  escalated and Joseph  became enraged, according to deputies.

A witness told detectives Joseph allegedly grabbed a butcher knife  and charged at this son Tyrone, knocking him down and stabbing him in the back.

Tyrone was able to get away and run to a neighbor's house, where he banged on the door before collapsing.

Detectives said the neighbor, Diego Arias, opened the door and saw Tyrone on the ground covered in blood.

In the meantime, Joseph called 911 and allegedly said he stabbed his son.

Fire Rescue took Tyrone to Broward Health North where he was pronounced dead.

According to homicide detectives, Joseph later told them he acted in self defense, adding his son was not armed.

Deputies arrested Joseph on a charge of second-degree murder.
