Disney Pitching Contest Worth $1M Prize In Publicity Event

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Disney is pitching a new publicity event designed to promote their upcoming film, Million Dollar Arm and it could land someone with a $1 million in their pocket.

Baseball pitchers, both male and female, are invited to compete to see who has the fastest pitch. If anyone can hurl a 100-mile-per-hour fastball, they may win a $1 million grand prize.

There will be three qualifying events for the Million Dollar Arm Pitching Contest:

  • April 25th and 26th at ESPN Wide World of Sport Complex at Walt Disney World in Orlando from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm.
  • April 25th and 26th at Downtown Disney District at Disneyland in California from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm.
  • April 26th at the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day at the Tribeca Family Festival in New York City from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Remember, you have to pitch like a MLB pro but never played in the minor or major league baseball leagues, or any other professional baseball league.

At these events, each contestant will get to throw three pitches. The three contestants from each location who throws the fastest pitch will not only win tickets to the World Premiere of Disney's Million Dollar Arm in Hollywood, California on May 6th, but also take part in the final competition at the film's premiere.

If one of the 9 finalists can pitch a 100 mph strike, it'll be worth $1 million.

Rules for the contest can be found here.

The film, which is based on a true story, follows a hard-on-his-luck sports agent, JB Bernstein (played by Jon Hamm) who hunts for the next great baseball pitcher by traveling to India and signing up gifted cricket players.
