Shoplifting Suspect Dies After Jumping In Canal
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A man suspected of shoplifting at Dadeland Mall died after he tried to escape from police.
The man, whose name has not been released, ran from the mall at SW 73rd Avenue and SW 82nd Street Saturday when officers tried to stop him. In an effort to elude police he jumped into a canal behind the mall.
Police said he made it about halfway across before he went under. The man was airlifted to the hospital where he died.
