MIAMI (CBSMiami) — San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, along with two other NFL players, have been named in a ‘suspicious incident’ report in Miami.
It happened April 1st at the Viceroy Hotel at 385 Brickell Avenue.
A woman told investigators from the City of Miami Police Department’s Special Victims Office that she went to the hotel to visit Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette who was staying there with Kaepernick and 49ers wide receiver Quinton Patton.
After having a couple of drinks, doing shots and taking a ‘hit’ off a bong, the woman said she went to a bedroom to lie down because she was feeling lightheaded, according to the incident report.
The woman said Kaepernick followed her into the room.
“She advised they were kissing (mouth) and Mr. Kaepernick started to undressed (sic) her. She got completely naked. Mr. Kaepernick told her that he was going to be right back and left the bedroom. They did not have sex.”
After Kaepernick left, Lockette and Patton reportedly “peeked” into the room and the woman told them to get out.
The report said they left and closed the door.
The woman said the next thing she remembers was waking up in the hospital. The report states that the woman did not know how she got to the hospital or who took her there.
The woman reportedly told police that she and Kaepernick had a sexual relationship in the past.
Miami Police are investigating, but they are not saying a crime has been committed and no charges have been filed. Officer Kenia Reyes said, “At this point there is no sexual assault investigation. This is simply an information report.”
Both teams are keeping a close eye on the results of the investigation.
San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke released the following statement on Thursday:
“The 49ers organization is aware of the recent media report regarding Colin Kaepernick and is in the process of gathering the pertinent facts.”
The 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said, “I’m aware and uh, don’t have anything else that i know anything about, so i have no further comment.” A reported asked how long he was aware of the police report. Harbaugh replied, “I’ve known about it for days.”
A Seahawks spokesperson said “We are aware of the situation, monitoring it closely and will not have any further comment at this time.”
