SUNRISE (CBSMiami) -- One man is in the hospital after a shooting at a high rise in Sunrise Thursday night.

Police said the shooting happened at around 8:00 p.m. outside Tao, a luxury residential building on Flamingo Road and Northwest 26th Street near the Sawgrass Mills Mall.

Two people were shot at multiple times, according to investigators. One of the men, Rodney Nelfort, 31, was wounded and airlifted to Broward North. Police said he is in critical, but stable condition. The second person was not hit and suffered a laceration to the leg that was not related to the gunfire.

Residents said they heard two rounds of gunfire and estimate more than a dozen shots were fired.

"We hear something that was like fireworks," said resident Natalia Seay. "It was like 10 or 15 [shots] and after that like 3 or 4 more then we start seeing a lot of commotion downstairs."
