Family Asks Public For Help Solving Homicide Case

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The family of a  father of five who was shot and killed in February is asking for the community's help to find answers in the unsolved homicide case.

According Miami-Dade Police, on February 16th, Keith R. Johnson, 43, was shot and  killed while he was sitting in his parked car located at 25 Avenue and York Street in Opa-Locka.

Johnson's 5-year old son was asleep in the backseat of the car at the time of the shooting but he was not injured.

Johnson's family members are thankful the little boy wasn't hurt, but said he is scarred for life and like them, deserves answers about what happened to his father.

"We don't even know why this baby is without a father and asks his mother everyday "why," and she has no answers to give him," said Johnson's aunt, Evlyn Hollingshead.

"It's a miracle this boy is alive. Lets just say that," said Miami-Dade Police Department Chief Of Investigations Alfredo Ramirez."You can have all of the predictive policing measures and enforcement strategies, but the  most powerful tool we have is a mobilized community."

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
