Woman Critically Injured In Attempted Murder-Suicide

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A hearing will be held Wednesday in Ft. Lauderdale to determine who will have temporary custody of a two year old child whose mother was critically injured in an attempted murder-suicide.

Around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Hollywood police received reports of gunfire in the 6500 block of Grant Street. When they arrived they found a car in the middle of the street and woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses reported they heard three gun shots.

The woman, who police identified as 22-year old Carla Yesmi Eusebio Deogracia, was reportedly picking her child from a babysitter when she was shot.

She was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in critical condition.

About a half an hour after this shooting, police received another report of gunfire, this time at 300 N 72nd Terrace.

There officers found the body of a man. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"I walked over there to see what happened and they said it's a murder suicide. I said 'oh my gosh, is it a young boy' because I know Jonathan lives there. They said 'yeah, he killed his girlfriend on 62nd'," said Adrianna Cato.

Investigators were able to determine he was responsible for the Grant Street shooting.

Police have not identified the couple or given a motive for the shooting.

The Department of Children and Families said they have not history with this family.
