FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue firefighters are asking drivers this week to ‘fill their boots’ for a good cause.
In keeping with an annual tradition and partnership that started in 1954, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 4321 hit the streets at 3 p.m. Tuesday for the popular Muscular Dystrophy Association’s annual fundraiser in front of the BSO Public Safety Building.
The ‘Fill-the Boot’ campaign will continue through Saturday, April 5 in front of BSO HQ and at various intersections across Broward.
The funds raised provide research, clinic visits, support groups, repair to equipment like wheelchairs and the opportunity for children from 6-17 to attend the MDA summer camp. All the money collected in Broward stays local to help those with neuromuscular diseases.
