Alleged Palm Beach Serial Rapist Arrested

WEST PALM BEACH (CBSMiami) – For five years, Baltazar Delgado Ros has managed to elude police. During his time on the run, the Sheriff of Palm Beach County vowed he would be caught.

"I don't care if it takes a day a month, a year or 10 years," said Sheriff Ric Bradshaw. "We are going to find you and bring you back here."

Wednesday night, Sheriff Bradshaw followed-through flying him back from Guatemala to face the charges of raping, beating and biting five unsuspecting women from 2009 until 2011.

"He would come up behind them," explained Carol Gregg from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, "a lot of times they didn't even know he was there, he would start punching them in the head and the face to gain compliance."

The women lived all over Palm Beach County. Investigators believe Delgado would find out about his victims before the attack.

"He worked with the husband of one of the victims and would likely have had knowledge that the husband was out of the country on the night of the assault," said Gregg.

Over the years, Delgado had different looks – usually with long hair. When it got too hot, detectives say he cut it short, and then fled to Guatemala. But even there, police say the attacks may have continued.

"We also learned that Delgado Ros was arrested in Guatemala on November 5, 2011 for the attempted sexual assault for a child under 12 years of age," said Gregg.

Delgado is the one who ended up giving detective the evidence they needed to tie him to all the cases. He left behind personal items that detectives used to gather DNA evidence to link him to all five cases.

Delgado also lived in Miami-Dade County for a short time. Investigators say he does not appear to be linked to any cases there. If convicted, he could face up to 10 life sentence.
