Arrest Made In Deadly Lauderhill Shooting

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - One person was arrested Tuesday morning for their alleged role in a domestic incident that turned into a deadly shooting in Lauderhill.

The body, which police now say was a female, was found in a triplex on the 5000 block of NW 16th Street after police were initially called to the scene with reports of a shooting.

"The death centers around a domestic incident," said Lt. Greg Solowsky of the Lauderhill Police Department.

Lauderhill Police said late Tuesday afternoon that through "investigative leads" the Lauderhill Police identified a suspect as Yohaniz Ceballos Palomino, 26. Lauderhill Police said they arrested Yohaniz Tuesday morning and charged him with second-degree murder.

Neighbors said the young couple that lived in the apartment argued often and had at least three kids including an infant.

"My girl said she heard them arguing or whatever before she left to come pick me up from work," said neighbor Anthony Willis.

Another neighbor told CBS4's Natalia Zea that the woman who lived in the apartment and her eight-year-old daughter recently stopped him on the street to use his phone to call 911. According to the neighbor, the woman called 911 because her boyfriend punched her and threatened her with a gun.

"The lady that stays in apartment 3 said they were fighting a lot, or whatever, she said that he said he was going to kill her," said Willis

Another neighbor said child services was called after that threat and that one of the children may have been in the apartment during the shooting.

"I saw an officer with a baby in his hands coming up with this way," said neighbor Ricardo Holness.

Police have not released the name or age of the individual whose body was found inside.
