Tourist Charged After Throwing Ice Over Balcony

PANAMA CITY BEACH (CBSMiami) - If you're going to throw something off your balcony during spring break, it's a good idea to check to see if there might be a cop below.

A spring breaker from Kokomo, Indiana found that out the hard way when he threw a cooler full of ice over a 12th floor balcony of a Panama City Beach condominium.

The ice chunks and water landed on the pool deck at the Legacy by the Sea Condominiums, inches away from Bay County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Faircloth on Wednesday.

The News Herald of Panama City reported Faircloth looked skyward and saw 20-year-old Tate Andrews doubled over in laughter at the edge of the balcony. The deputy went to the room where he found Andrews in the bathroom "attempting to elude arrest."

Andrews now faces third-degree felony charges for throwing a deadly missile. He remained in the Bay County Jail on Friday with bail set at $1,500.
