Pelosi Talks Immigration Reform At FIU

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi joined Miami Congressman Joe Garcia Friday to talk about immigration reform.

The two also met with  local Miami leaders  and  “Fast for Families,” a group which pushes for immigration reform.

“We have a moral crisis in our hands that our elected leaders can no longer ignore,” commented Fast for Families’ Eliseo Medina in anticipation of the meeting.  “It’s time they delivered a lasting solution and end our communities’ suffering once and for all.”

The meeting  took place at Florida International University Law School.

In a press conference after the meeting, Pelosi touted comprehensive immigration as a way to solve the issues of many families in the U.S. and pushed for support of House Bill 15 (HR15).

“Everybody understands that who were are as a nation are people that respect the dignity and work of every person and that’s what this bill will enable us to do,” said Pelosi. “I believe that there is nothing more important that we can do for our country right now than to pass immigration reform.”
