Hooker Heist At SOBE Hotel

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) -- The W Hotel on Miami Beach is a swanky joint with Rolls Royces and Lamborghinis lined up out front.  The average room goes for 600 bucks a night.  Actor Jamie Foxx was seen entering the hotel Friday but Jamie Foxx wasn't alone.  Miami Beach police and Miami Beach CSI were also at the hotel investigating a robbery.  Call it The Swedes and The Scarlet Women Caper.

Investigators say three men from Sweden, on a "working vacation," picked up three ladies of the evening at a thus far undisclosed location in Miami.  The harlots did not channel Julia Roberts' character in "Pretty Woman."

The Swedish tourists told cops they took the three strumpets to one of their rooms at The W where they drank and partied and passed out.  They think the women slipped them a Mickey, drugged their drinks.

When the men regained consciousness at about 7 a.m. Friday, the hookers had hoofed it.  Also gone was $35,000 from the hotel room safe.  Police say someone apparently didn't lock it.

Other hotel guests were not wholly sympathetic for the victims, whose names had not been released as of late Friday.

"Well, that's dumb," said a guest visiting from Pittsburgh. "That's their own fault."

"Who carries around that much cash and what kind of crowd were they hanging out with," said Valerie Emory, visiting from Canada.  "Maybe they got what they were asking for."

Miami Beach Police say there is a lesson here:  If you're an adult, it's perfectly okay to talk to strangers.  But you shouldn't take them to your hotel room with you, particularly if they have spiked heels, miniskirts, painted faces and are asking for money.

"Guys are just dumb.  They're just stupid.  It's as simple as that," said Chris Silva, a guest from Brazil staying at the hotel.

Management of The W issued a statement saying the hotel's first priority is providing a safe stay for its guests.

The W watches over its guests with security cameras throughout the facility that police believe captured excellent video of the felonious floozies.  They expect the courtesans will be caught.
