Dolphins Looking At Safety Louis Delmas

DAVIE (CBSMiami) – Safety might not be at the top of the Miami Dolphins' needs heading into free agency next week, but the team brought in free agent Louis Delmas over the weekend to talk about possibly replacing Chris Clemons.

While Clemons played well last season, 93 tackles and one interception, the Fins want someone they believe will have better ball skills. Delmas has had knee problems in the past, but when on the field has been a solid safety since he was drafted.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Delmas held opposing quarterbacks to a 79.8 passer rating when they threw at him and opponents completed just 43.8 percent of the passes thrown to people he was covering.

The Dolphins spent big money on Reshad Jones last season to keep him at one safety position. The Fins are leaving the door open for Clemons to return, but if Delmas was to strike a deal first, he would likely get the job.
