One Dead In Hialeah Shooting

HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – Crime scene detectives remain on-scene at a home in Hialeah Tuesday night after at least one person is confirmed dead.

Hialeah Police spokesman Eddie Rodriguez confirmed at least one person was found dead inside the single story home at W 6th Avenue and 40th Place.

Hialeah said they received a 911 call from a person who went to check on residents of the home around 2:30 p.m.

Property records show the home is owned by a Juan Carlos Hernandez and Onelia Canales.

Rodriguez said police and fire rescue personnel had a difficult time getting into the home to assess the situation because there were storm shutters up on the windows and metal security gates over the doors.

Neighbors said the people who live in the home had recently moved in.

"It's just terrible. There's too much violence nowadays," said Mercedes Delgado.

Neighbors say the people living there have just recently moved into the neighborhood. Neighbor Josel De La Torre said he believes the people living in that home have only been there for 2-3 months.

Police have not said they are looking for a gunman which could point to a domestic murder scene.
