MIAMI (CBSMiami) – An early Tuesday morning accident in Northwest Miami-Dade County has left one person dead.

According to investigators, it was just before 6:30 Tuesday morning when the fatal accident occurred. Police said the woman who was an Opa-Locka resident was attempting to cross NW 27 Avenue near 147th Street when a driver heading southbound struck her.

The impact was so severe the victim died on the scene.

Investigators blocked off the area for several hours as they interviewed the female driver who stopped immediately after the accident.

A business across the street with surveillance cameras captured the accident when it happened and detectives are using that as part of their investigation.

Officials have not yet released the name of the victim. There has been no word if the driver will face any charges.
