Blue Monster Golf Course Reopens After Renovations

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Donald Trump teed off Thursday morning at the Trump National Doral Resort, formerly the iconic Doral Country Club, that he's invested hundred of millions of dollars into.

"We could have taken the easy road and a lot cheaper road. We could have put a couple of palm trees out there  and lengthened a couple of tees. I'm sure we would have been fine and I'm sure it would have been acceptable but it wouldn't have been the right thing to do," said Donald Trump.

The facility is still undergoing a major face lift with 800 new rooms and five championship golf courses, one of which is the Blue Monster. It's already complete and ready to go for the World Golf Championship just around the corner.

It's not all about golf, Trump brought in the World Golf Championship chairman to liven things up a bit with fun, fashion and food. It's something he know's a little something about considering he's behind the Sony Ericsson held in Key Biscayne each year.

"We're doing the fashion show and the music. We're bringing in some of the greatest chefs from around the world to do the food,"said Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump's daughter. "We'll obviously have the golfers but we'll have a lot of people who aren't golfers and have never been to a golf tournament nor would have any interest who will come out here and have a lot of fun."
