MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Three people were injured, a fourth killed, in an overnight shooting in Miami-Dade.

According to Miami police, just before 2 a.m., Jerome Adams, 19, was hanging out with a group in the area of NW 71st Street and 14th Place when someone walked up to them and starting shooting.

Two of the injured drove to North Shore Hospital. The two more seriously injured were rushed to the Ryder Trauma Center where Adams died.

"The family is still trying to figure out what happened and it's just devastating," said Adams' cousin Natasha Hicks.  "I'm just praying for his mom and dad, they are taking this very hard, and for his grandmother."

Adams' cousin, Adam Hicks, was one of those who was injured.

"He is fine, recovering from surgery and hopefully he will be fine and we are praying for him also," said Hicks.

Hicks said her cousin will be missed.

"The took away a brother, a cousin, a son, he was really a good kid, no trouble," said Hicks.

Police have not released a description of the gunman or said what may have prompted the shooting.
