Neighbors Heard Bieber's Alleged Drag Race Down Pine Tree Drive

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) - People who live along peaceful Pine Tree Drive on Miami Beach were surprised to see their street suddenly in the spotlight Thursday.

"It's very quiet here, thank God," said Shirley Kukoff.

It wasn't quiet about 4 a.m.  That's when police said Justin Bieber had two black SUVs block the street so Bieber could drag race in a yellow Lamborghini with his friend, Khalil Sharieff, in a red Ferrari.

The sound of revving engines startled neighbors along Pine Tree Drive.

"About four, I heard, I don't sleep very deeply, I heard noises," said Carmen Fernandez.

Fernandez told CBS4 reporter Maggie Newland that she could hear "race cars" speeding.

By the time Fernandez looked out the window. the cars had already sped off.

Police said they were going between 55 and 60 miles per hour on a street where the speed limit is 30.

"I think his parents should be responsible, he's only 19 years old," said Kukoff.

According to TMZ, Justin Bieber's dad "helped facilitate" his son's alleged crimes and even helped block off the street so Justin Bieber could race.

Both cars involved in the alleged drag race were rented from Lou La Vie in Miami and were returned to the company after a short time at the police impound lot.

It didn't take long for life on Pine Tree Drive to get back to normal, except for a lot of talk about what happened early Thursday morning.
