MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Three people are dead after a fiery head on collision on Krome Avenue early Sunday morning.
Around 2 a.m., an SUV and small car collided near SW 144th Street, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
When fire rescue personnel arrived both vehicles were engulfed in flames.
The impact was very severe, the vehicles both caught on fire, there were people trapped in the vehicles,” said Joe Sanchez with FHP.
Two people died on the scene. Four others were taken to area hospitals, two by air and two by ground. A third person died at the hospital. The conditions of the three survivors have not been released.
The Florida Highway Patrol said dental records will have to be used to identify the dead because of the extent of their burns.
The FHP is working to determine who crossed the undivided highway which led to the wreck.
