MIAMI (CBS4) – It was a day of fun for Fifth graders from Miami Country Day School who took a field trip to the Wynwood Walls Wednesday for a lesson on art – street art specifically.

Dozens of students worked through the rain, painting canvasses with bright colors as part of their lesson about how art can have a profound impact on a neighborhood.

“I think it really opens their creative minds and vision,” said Charly McDonald who joined his daughter on her class field trip.

After a quick course on spray painting, the students also got a hands on lesson in street art.

“Living here in Miami, it’s been fun to see Wynwood come to life and see it go from being an industrial area to an incredible art venue and it exposes kids to creating art in a unique way! My daughter loves it, and has been sprinting back and forth getting different colors,” said McDonald.
