Fins Fans Like Team Moving On From Jeff Ireland

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Less than 24 hours after the Miami Dolphins and general manager Jeff Ireland decided to part ways, some fans are celebrating the move and hoping for something positive to finally happen for the franchise.

It was all the talk on local sports talk radio like 790 The Ticket. Dolphins fans said that Ireland was "garbage."

"I am happy that Jeff Ireland is out come," one caller said. "We have to be honest; ever since he came in, he's had bad stats."

"For the Bills to beat the Dolphins twice, if that's the difference between the Dolphins making the playoffs, somebody's got to go," said Ian Burgess.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross made the move to part ways with Ireland Tuesday evening. The move reportedly came as Ross was preparing to restructure the front office and take some of Ireland's power away in the new power structure.

Ireland has drawn fire from fans for the last few years as the Dolphins have toiled in mediocrity. His drafts have largely been busts and the team, despite spending more than $100 million in guaranteed money last year.

"It's been quite the tenure for Ireland here in Miami it's been tough on the fans he's made big decisions and when you see the results most fans are definitely excited about this news," said Joy Taylor of 790 The Ticket.

The Dolphins have not made the playoffs since 2008 and hasn't won a playoff game since 2000.
