Man Kills Himself After Daytona Hospital Shooting Rampage

Daytona Beach (CBSMiami) -- A man accused of firing at cars and attacking nurses at a Dayton Beach Hospital Sunday, shot himself to death in the hospital.

According to our news partners, The Sun-Sentinel, police identified the alleged shooter as 20-year -old Jonathan G. Rodriguez-Jeff. Daytona Beach Police, told the paper, Rodriguez-Jeff last known address was in Deltona.

Police said they were alerted to a man firing a shotgun at a vehicle on Clyde Morris. Shortly after that, they were alerted as to shots fired in the hospital parking lot.

Rodriguez-Jeff allegedly crashed his vehicle into through the hospital's west gate then shot at several vehicles in the lot. No one was injured outside the hospital, according to the paper.

He then reportedly shot out the glass doors of the hospital entrance and went to the second floor where he confronted two nurses and allegedly asked them if they wanted to die tonight, according to the paper. He later went to another room and confronted another patient and nurse then shot himself in the same room.

two nurses were also hurt during the rampage, according to police.

A Halifax spokeswoman, told the paper there is no known connection between the hospital, patients or staff.
