Fans Get Ready For Orange Bowl Showdown

MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) -- We are just hours away from a spectacular Orange Bowl game Friday night in Miami Gardens and fans on both sides are getting riled up. The Ohio State Buckeyes will play against Clemson Tigers.

"We drove down.  It took us 17 hours," said Adam Roby, an Ohio fan.

Fans have come from far away, to cheer on their team and soak up the sun.

"It wasn't hard to talk the girls into a little beach trip and January, "said Mike Kelley, a Clemson student.

For Julie and Joe Willis it's going to be quiet ride home no matter who wins.

"Tense for him because we are going to win," said Julie Willis, a Clemson Alumni.

"I don't know about that.  You can see the tension already," responded Joe Willis, an Ohio State Freshman.

Inside the stadium the finishing touches are being done on the field.

Bomb sniffing dogs have combed over the stadium and the locker rooms are lined up ready to go.

The last time these two teams met was in 1978 and it ended ugly.

"We were totally beating up on Ohio state and winning the game and Woody Hayes didn't like that one of our wide receivers caught the ball and he walked over and punched him underneath his helmet and they never called a flag but he lost his job over it," said Julie Willis, a Clemson Fan.

Hayes, the legendary Buckeye head coach never coached again.

"I didn't know!  We'll get em back for that tonight," said Mike Kelley, a Clemson student.
