Woman Finds Severed Human Foot In Park

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami/AP) — A startling New Year's day discovery in a Hobe Sound park.

A woman taking a walk at Peck Lake Park, on the north end of Jupiter Island, found a sneaker with a human foot inside under some sea grass.

Martin County Sheriff's deputies, air units and dogs searched the park but didn't find any other remains.

The foot was taken to a crime lab.  The Martin County Sheriff's Office is working with other agencies to determine whether there are any missing persons in the area.

The woman made the discovery around noon on Wednesday.

No further details were immediately available.
