Big Orange Ready To Bring In The New Year

MIAMI (CBSMiami) –  The final touches are being put on Miami's Big Orange/La Gran Naranja and Bayfront Park om downtown Miami ahead of the annual New Year's Eve blow out.

The Big Orange will ascend the side of the Hotel InterContinental Miami on New Year's Eve and reach the top at the stroke of midnight to mark the start of 2014

The Big Orange was renamed La Gran Naranja through 2013 when the state marked the 500th anniversary of the Spanish bringing the orange to Florida in 1513.

Across the street at Bayfront Park, a huge party complete with live music and entertainment is planned to help an expected 70,000 of people ring in the new year.

While nothing compares to spending New Year's Eve in Times Square, the New Year's Eve celebration at Bayfront Park can claim better weather, more comfort and also a bay side fireworks show.
