Argument Leads To Fatal Shooting & Arrest In Hialeah

HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – An argument between two men in Hialeah Friday night left one man dead and another arrested.

Hialeah Police were called to a dispute at Hialeah Cabin Motel, located at 508 W. 1st Avenue Friday around 7 PM..

Upon responding, 38-year-old Arturo Vigo, according to Hialeah Police Department, was found on the first floor, in the hallway of the building dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

After investigating, police believe Vigo, and 31-year-old Alain Alvarez, got into argument.

According to police, Vigo armed himself with a machete and allegedly attacked Alvarez. Alvarez, armed with a firearm, shot once and killed Vigo.

Alvarez, police say, was slightly injured during the altercation. He was transported to the hospital for examination. Once medically cleared, he was transported to jail.

Alvarez, as of Saturday afternoon, has not been charged with homicide as police believe the shooting was in self-defense/justifiable homicide. The investigation, however, remains active.

Alvarez was charged separately with grand-theft possession of a stolen firearm because the gun he used to fatally shoot Vigo was reported stolen in another case.
