Man Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Church Donations

BOCA RATON (CBSMiami) -- Boca Raton Police have arrested a man accused of stealing several hundred dollars from a charitable donation locker inside a church earlier this month.

Police say Michael Quick, 46, was caught on surveillance video breaking into and stealing from a charitable locker located inside St. Joan of Arc Church on December 21st.

Surveillance video released by the department shows a man enter the church at 1:11 p.m. and wait until the only other person in the church left. The video then shows him go to the back of the room, where the locker was located and spend 20 minutes breaking into the locker. After the man removed the money, he placed the door to the locker back on to conceal the theft, according to police.

On Thursday,  a tipsters called detectives and identified the suspect as Quick.

The tipster works at a Valero Gas Station and told detectives he recognized Quick from the gas station.

Detectives went to Quick's last known address and met with the current residents. who knew Quick, since he performs maintenance around the property. They also identified Quick from the video, according to police.

Officers searched the areas where Quick is known to spend time and located him at 299 West Camino Real.

Officers arrested Quick and charged him with grand theft. Quick allegedly told detectives he needed the money for food.
