MIAMI (CBSMiami) — With the holiday season in full swing, Miami International Airport is expected to see more than 2.1 million passengers during the 17-day holiday travel period from Dec. 21 to January 6th.

This would mean an average of 123,500 passengers per day.

Normal weekday and weekend passenger totals at MIA are usually 105,000 and 113,000, respectively.

The estimated projections for this holiday season could mean MIA will approach or break their all-time record for passengers in a single day.

Their previous record was 136,889 on January 5, 2013 but officials at the airport suspect the record will be broken this weekend or the weekend following New Year’s Day.
