MIAMI (CBSMiami) --  Two men were struck by a bus at the Omni Station in Miami Monday night.

According to Miami-Dade Police a 74-year-old man, accompanied by his 12-year old grandson and a 44-year-old man were heading to the Miami Heat game when the  two men were struck by the bus at the driveway leading into the station.

Fire rescue said the two men and the little boy were crossing the driveway, in the bus' path, on their way to the game.

A security guard rushed to keep everyone calm while rescue responded.

"The security guard who was at the station ran over and found a 44-year-old  male that was part way under the bus and going into shock. He was able to keep this patient calm until fire rescue arrived," according to Lt. Ignatius Carroll with the Miami-Dade Police."A 74-year old who accompanied him was also slightly injured. and a 12 year old who was the grandson of the older gentleman was not injured at all."

The 44-year-old was  transported to Ryder Trauma Center. The man had to be pulled out from under the bus. Fire rescue says he had head trauma and mangled one of his hands.

"Are the man's injuries life threatening," asked CBS4's Brian Andrews.

"At this time, they're not, he's been stabilized by trauma center Doctors," said Carroll.

There were 20 people on the bus at the time of the accident. According to police, no one on board was injured.

Police will review the bus' camera system to see how this all transpired. They also took a statement from the bus driver.  Fire rescue praised the security guard for thinking fast and helping to keep the man alert until help arrived.
