Coach Accused Of Sexually Assaulting A Child

MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) -- Miami Gardens Police arrested a South Florida coach for allegedly sexually assaulting a child Friday.

According to police, Paul Johnson,49, surrendered at the Miami Gardens Police Department on Saturday and  was placed into custody and charged with sexual battery.

Police said the child met up with Johnson for practice at Pepper's Park located at 1355 NW 135th Street in North Miami Friday but due to weather the practice was suspended.

Johnson then took the child home, as usual. Once he arrived a the child's home he asked to use her restroom.

According to police, Johnson allegedly exited the bathroom and proceeded to sexually assault the child.  During the alleged assault, the mother of the child arrived and caught the act.

He later fled in an unknown direction but surrendered at the police department the following day.

Police are urging anyone who has come in contact with Johnson or knows of anyone who has come in contact with him to notify them at (305) 474-6473.
