Body Found Floating In Lauderhill Canal
FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – An investigation is underway after a body was found floating in a Lauderhill canal.
The face down body was spotted early Wednesday morning in the water near NW 50th Street and N University Drive.
Lauderhill Police spokesman Lt. Michael Butkus said it looked as if the body had been in the water for quite some time and it was difficult to tell if it was a man or woman.
Police divers retrieved the body and it was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office which will identify the person and try to determine a cause of death.
Butkus said they are investigating it as a suspicious death, however at this point they don't know whether this was an accidental drowning or something else.
