Runcie Receives "Star" Superintendent Of The Year Award

TAMPA (CBSMiami) -- Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert W. Runcie received the "Star" Superintendent of the Year Award in Tampa Thursday.

The award recognizes an outstanding school district superintendent who has made the greatest impact on their local education foundation.

The Consortium of Florida Education Foundations presented the award to the superintendent at the 68th Annual Joint Conference of Florida School Boards Association and Florida Association of District School Superintendents.

The Broward Education Foundation nominated Superintendent Runcie for the award to recognize his leadership and support of the foundation.

The nomination cited his role in helping the foundation increase it's fundraising  in 2013, his involvement with the foundation as an active member of the Board of Directors and his overall leadership in promoting the foundation activities and programs.

"We're proud to celebrate Superintendent Runcie's leadership and support of the Broward Education Foundation," said Jorene Jameson, BEF's president & CEO."He has provided invaluable support of our mission to distribute student scholarships, teacher grants and free school supplies to schools in need. He is a true champion of education."
