CONCH KEY (CBSMiami/AP) — Portions of U.S. 1 in the Florida Keys have re-opened Tuesday following the crash of three tractor-trailers near Marathon.
U.S. 1 northbound at mile marker 63 mile marker is now open. Traffic is being alternated until the southbound lane is clean of fuel and oil to allow safe travel.
Monroe County Sheriff’s officials say the crash happened at 2:37 a.m. Tuesday. near mile marker 63. Several people were injured in the crash.
According to the sheriff’s office, one person was airlifted to a hospital in Miami after being trapped inside one of the trucks for two hours.
Emergency crews are cleaning up an oil spill and working to move the trucks from the highway.
