Reality Show Pits NFL Stars Vs. Cheetahs In Race

TAMPA (CBSMiami) - Who is faster, two of the National Football League's fastest players, or the fastest land animal in the world, the cheetah?

National Geographic decided to put the question to the test in a documentary that's part of it's "Big Cat Week."

The show, according to the Tampa Bay Times, was recorded in early May at Busch Gardens' Cheetah Run exhibit.

The two cheetahs, Jenna and Nave, were pitted against Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson and Chicago Bears kick returner, and former Miami Hurricanes star, Devin Hester.

Johnson has been clocked at 4.24 seconds in the 40-yard dash and Hester has clocked in under 4.4 seconds. The cheetah can run at speeds up to 60-70 miles per hour.

The network and park created a 220-foot-long course with a 10-foot-tall wall separating man from beast.

The filming was unscripted and done in a single take to avoid stress on the cheetahs — and humans.
