FHP Steps Up Highway Safety Enforcement Over Thanksgiving Weekend

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – Thanksgiving weekend is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year and that has the Florida Highway Patrol on alert and trying to keep crashes at a minimum.

The Florida Highway Patrol will increase its presence on Florida's roads throughout the four day holiday weekend starting Nov. 28.

FHP, with the help of its auxiliary and reserve troopers, will be participating in the nationwide effort known as Operation CARE (Combined Accident Reduction Effort).

This year's Operation CARE will focus on impaired driving, speeding, tailgating, and other aggressive driving behaviors during the holiday weekend.

The Florida Highway Patrol will also be monitoring seatbelt and child safety laws.

Operation CARE started more than 10 years ago.
