Large Reward Offered For Info On 10-Year Old Shot & Killed In Nail Salon

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The family of a ten-year old Miramar boy who was killed during a robbery at the family's nail salon plan has asked for the public's help in catching his killer. Crimestoppers is now offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Aaron Vu's killers.

Last Friday, two armed men stormed into the Hong Kong nail salon at 14832 N.W. 7th Avenue and fired several shots during the hold up. Aaron Vu, 10, and his father Hai Vu, 42, were both hit.

They were taken to the Ryder Trauma Center where the boy was pronounced dead. His father is said to be improving. A family member told CBS4′s Peter D'Oench that Hai Vu is now sitting up in the intensive care unit.

"He was only 10-years old, please help us find the bad guys so that no one else will be killed," said Loc Ma, the boy's uncle.

Over the weekend, police handed out flyers to neighboring businesses and released surveillance video.

They're looking for any information that will help them catch the killers.

"I hope the people in the community are as outraged as we are. These people need to be caught. They need to be taken off the street if they've done it once they'll do it again and anybody could be a victim," said Miami-Dade police Lt. Jim Tietz.

Aaron Vu's uncle and great aunt are asking that anyone who can identify the two men to call the police.

"This loss is so painful, we are hoping that this can be solved so no one will get hurt anymore," said Vu's great aunt Thai Pham. "Please help so no more innocent children like Aaron can be hurt anymore."

Pham said Aaron's father, along with two younger siblings, were told on Monday that he had been killed.

"He was in shock. He was broken-hearted. He was devastated," said Pham. "We brought the children into I.C.U. so they can cry together, so they can share the pain together," she added.

The reward for information that leads to the capture of the two armed men has been increased to up to $25,000.

"We want to get these guys off the street. These are stone cold killers and this code of no snitching has no place in a civilized society," said Crime Stoppers director Dick Maasten.

"My nephew didn't deserve something like this," said Ma.

Aaron was remembered as mischievous yet respectful, a little boy who loved dancing to Michael Jackson and pleasing others.

"His birthday his mother asked what you want for your birthday he said 'Mom, I just want to be a good kid. That's all I want,'" recalled, Pham.

"Please help us. I you have information call the tip line," said Pham. "It would help so much for the family and the closure if you could help us."

If you know anything about the suspects, call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477) or (866) 471-8477. You could be eligible for the reward and you can remain anonymous.
