Miami Heat Cut Check For County
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The Miami Heat did something Friday some people thought might never happen. The team cut a check to Miami-Dade county for $257, 134. 12.
It's the first revenue sharing check the Miami Heat had ever sent to the county.
The arena was built on county land and subsidized with nearly $200 million in taxpayer money.
Despite taking in tens of millions of dollars a year through basketball games, concerts , and events like the circus, the heat always claimed they never earned enough money to share any of it with the county.
That changed this year with the teams check.
