Father Accused Of Shooting His Own Son During Fight

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – A South Florida man was hospitalized Tuesday morning after being gunned down in a driveway and police say the trigger was pulled by his own father.

The shooting took place outside a home at SW 39th Street and 92nd Avenue.

Police say the shooting appears to be a domestic dispute between the father and son, both adults.

A neighbor who spoke to CBS4's Peter D'Oench said he saw the father and son fighting publically in the past over the son's wife.

"I feel bad because I have two kids in my house. It's horrible," said Yusniel Veitia.

Police have not released either of the names of the father or the son but a convenience store clerk who works nearby knows the victim.

"I know the son. He comes in all the time, in the morning and buys bread here. It's crazy," said Monica Barreto.

Neighbors want answers.

"It's a good neighborhood. I feel sad, I guess," said neighbor Alicia Rodriguez.

The son was taken to Kendall Regional Hospital and is expected to survive, according to police.

The father was taken into police custody.

Police say if anyone witnessed the two men fighting or the shooting, please call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
