Tennis Stars Team Up With Music Legend For Charity Event
LAKE BUENA VISTA (CBSMiami/AP) — Wimbledon women's champion Marion Bartoli along with former champion Venus Williams teamed up to take on music legend Sir Elton John and U.S. Open champion Andy Roddick in a battle of the sexes match for charity.
Sunday's match, which opened the annual Mylan WTT Smash Hits series, was held at ESPN Wide World of Sports complex at Disney World to raise money for AIDS charities.
John and Billie Jean King have joined together for two decades for the Mylan WTT Smash Hits, which has raised more than $11.5 million for the Elton John AIDS Foundation and other AIDS charities since 1993.
This 21st annual event will also benefit the Hope and Help Center of Central Florida.
