MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) will join Vice President Joe Biden in a visit to the Panama Canal next week.

They are scheduled to visit the canal’s expansion project site  on November 18  and meet with Panama’s President Ricardo Martinelli.

The group is expected to also travel to the Port of Houston, Texas to discuss the importance of investing in infrastructure to make America more competitive, strengthen the middle class and help the economy grow.

The vice president is also expected to talk about how federal investments are helping the Port of Houston and ports across the U.S. to prepare to capitalize on the Panama Canal expansion.

The group will meet to discuss the canal expansion project which will double the capacity of the canal, allowing larger ships to call on U.S. ports.
