Doral Drama Escalates At Council Meeting

DORAL (CBSMiami) --  The City of Doral  has a new vice mayor but there is no end in sight to the sparring between the city manager and the mayor which escalated at a council meeting Wednesday night.

You could make it a weekly show called the "Doral City Council Circus."

"I don't expect to resign.  I'm here because I was elected by the people for the people.  And I will be here until the people want me to be here,' said Doral Mayor Luigi Boria during Wednesday night's council meeting.

His ongoing feud with Doral City Manager Joe Carollo continued Wednesday night well past midnight.  What the two are fighting over they may not even know about anymore.

The drama has spilled over to the council who now is attacking their mayor and attacking each other.

"This is precisely why you should have remained a staff and not an elected official," said Doral Councilwoman Sandra Ruiz to Boria during a council meeting.

Boria, who lost control of the meeting too many times to count, ended up walking out. It's clear residents and the business community is taking notice.

The Doral Community Coalition has asked the governor to get involved.  They want a prosecutor assigned to investigate the mayor.

The city just lost out on a bid to bring the Miss America pageant to town due to the city's issues. Boria doesn't see it.

"I really want to do my best for the community. I don't have any particular interest. I'm protecting the goodness of the people. I'm here to give them a better quality of life," said Boria.

A phone poll is underway. Residents report they are getting calls from someone asking them what they think of the mayor's performance.
