BSO Release Sketch Of Would-Be Kidnapper

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A man tried to abduct a woman off a Pompano Beach street.

Now, the Broward Sheriff's Office has released a sketch of the would-be kidnapper in hopes that someone spots him and gives them, or Crime Stoppers, a call.

It happened November 7th on SW 2nd Avenue near SW 14th Street. The woman told investigators that she was walking toward a gas station just before 8 p.m. when she noticed a dark-colored, older model, small pick-up truck slowly moving toward her.

When the truck got beside her, it stopped and a man jump out and grabbed her. The 26-year old said she fought back, kicking and punching him, as he tried to get her into the truck. At one point during the struggle, the woman said the man punched her in the face.

The woman said she was eventually able to break free and ran to her home which was nearby.

She told BSO the man who attacked her was between 40 and 50 years of age, approximately 6-feet tall, had a 5 o'clock shadow and was wearing a white, button-down shirt, blue jeans and a blue baseball cap. She added that his hands felt callused, he had extreme body odor and appeared to be living out of his vehicle. His pickup was in poor condition, with tinted windows, and the driver's side headlight was damaged.

Anyone who recognizes the above sketched individual is asked to contact BSO Violent Crimes Unit at (954) 321-4224 or Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).

A reward of up to $3,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
